On Saturday afternoon (February 11, 2006), several hundred people braved snowy weather and gathered on the lot north of the David H. Mercer Field House to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new $5.8 million, NHL sized (85 feet by 200 feet), state-of-the-art, indoor skating rink.
